Toga,

I am afraid to listen to electrostatic speakers now. I can't bear the thought of upgrading speakers so soon.

Your story of your engagement and the delivery of Accuphase DP900/901 is precious. I only wonder:

Was the delivery of Accuphase DP900/901 to celebrate the engagement to your wife?
OR
Was the engagement to celebrate the delivery of the Accuphase DP900/901?

In Stereophile lab test. They set bass level to -10 to get flat response. That 's why I got such a kick at 0 or -1 .
Magico Q7 calling less attention, music just flow. The Montis , while wonderful, I heard it calling attention. Everything
From bass to treble, there was something that made me ooh ahh,...

Ron, without a ring, DP900/DC901 would have faced strong resistance.

I was too, until Logan improved their cross-over technology which resulted in a more seamless transition between conventional bass driver and stat panel.

Roger (Sanders) speaker, while limited in it's sweet spot and not all that attractive, is superb.
Dave, I've owned the Summit X & heard the Sanders, your description is as I found it too.

Bohdi, have you heard the 20.7's?

I've only heard the 1.7's with subs tuned with a DEQX. Pretty much what I expected. As far a panel speakers go, and ribbons in general I prefer true ribbon drivers. The refurbished/upgraded Diva
Ultimates with Graz ribbons are special. I just don't have the room or amps to accommodate them, or I might well have gone in that direction.

Getting back to the Q7's, here is VA's sound room with the Q7's and new, upgraded Masterpiece Series mono blocks..

So the Montis gave you but a taste of M/L……… imagine what a pair of CLX's combined with a couple of great subs would do !! Myself having demoed both the Q7's and the aforementioned combo @ Overture Audio , IMO, the quadruple price difference of the Magico makes little sense to me.
Dave, I wholeheartedly agree. Toga, if the Montis are supplied with ETC spikes, replace those rubber feet immediately with the spikes and tilt the panels forward so they are perpendicular to the ground. Makes a huge difference, and not just in the bass!

That is Vitus Audio's sound room. I was actually chatting to Hans Ole about that photo & he said those are MP Series mono blocks going through routine testing/run in for a customer, hence placement and isolation were not critical. Certainly better than hauling 296kg of amps around the factory . As I understand it, the amps have already shipped to their new owner.

Ethos is here today.
I m quite sure that Montis is a league above.
bass was much less, mid seems to have less body so far.
But I will have to take some time to set them up more

Toga,

Did you condider adding some diffusion behind your listening seat ? Sitting so close to the rear wall is suboptimal to begin with, but the adverse effects can be greately mitigated by properly controlling the diffusion.

Regular diffusers would not work properly (sitting too close) but the SMT delay lines should work wonders.

Here is an example of WBF member stereo listening room in Taipei (this is the rear wall):

Similar design in the UK:

Those wings delay lines can be also ordered in acrylic - they are fully transparent, making them almost invisible (I have two of those in my listening room).

Here is an image with 4 SMT Wings placed against the window (you can see how easily they disappear):

and here is closer an image where you can see their shape:

I have placed 4 of those on the first reflection points on the sidewals in my room and the effects are superb - greater stage depth and image stability, with less image wandering.

I'm sitting over 1m from the rear wall, where I already have a diffuser, so I did not place them here.

But in your room, that would be the first place I would put them in.
