Gavin.......I like to see McIntosh gear in the movies or a television program. It's always a pleasant surprise when I do.

MVP861 was displayed rather prominently. One of McIntosh's most underrated performers. Loved mine!

Audio Classics has loaned McIntosh equipment in the past when it's needed for movie props etc.
I think they charge a fee for loaning the equipment but I cannot say for certain. |

I also think.. MA6500 XLS320 Wall mounted X5 A MX Series Preamp processor There are a bunch of posts here and across the internet that ID everything in The Departed movie. If you check out the book, the character played by Matt Damon is an "Audiophile." |

While I don't know for sure in the case of Mac, paying for what's called "product placement" is common on TV and in the movies.

I'm always on the lookout for HiFi gear in TV shows, movies, and commercials. McIntosh gear shows up more often than any other high end brand I can think of. The McIntosh book has a pretty good list - The Stepford Wives being the one movie I still have not seen.
For me, this is one of the many highlights of being a McIntosh owner. |
