so the moral of this so far appears that the Ultra SS are better at audio isolation and making the music sound better vs the Minis? I have the Ultra SS that I am about to install under the new Martin Logan CLX speakers.

Down the road I would like something to go under the MC601 amps.

Default I believe now

Hi Tim,

I am also a believer in Stillpoints/ vibration control. When the time is right, I will re-load my system with Stillpoints. Never should have sold them when I lost my mind ... I mean lost my room.

In my experience, the SS is well worth the cost over the mini. I directly compared them under a McIntosh C500 preamp. It was obvious the SS was better. I used SS with bases under MC501s. Never would consider Mini under amps but that’s just me.

IIRC, Mini has a single ceramic ball (or whatever material it is) whereas SS has a single “technology packet” which is comprised of a number of balls, let’s say it’s 4 balls (can’t remember how many exactly). So set of 4 minis is 4 balls and set of 4 SS is 16 balls. Significantly more vibration control headroom in SS.

I did use minis under my Aurender X100 but can’t say I heard any improvement there. Mini under digital may be good enough.

Thx Jason, I thought I remember you saying you lost your mind...and your room No I am with you. Really looking forward to installing these on the CLX. Its a 2 man job though on the large panels.

I still have the Symposium Acoustic Ultra platforms and the couplers. I think I may use the platforms and Couplers under the amps until funds and the timing is right for more Stillpoints. Also have a buddy who swears by Nordost. But man everyone on AA swears by SP.

I wish I purchased Black Ultra SS though!

Don't want to derail the thread...

Yep, Black is the way to go, IMO.

To me, Nordost cones are too big ... I like the low profile look of the SP under gear.

I do use (6) Nordost Sort Fut and Sort Kup under my rack.

I am happy with Minis under my source/front end equipment although clearly, adding the Ultra SS under my Amplifiers made the most obvious improvement/impact.

Of course, if one were paranoid, they might ask themselves if they should have spent the money on Minis on fewer Ultra SS... Like perhaps under their P-10...

Luckily, I am not paranoid. Really I not.

Why do you think that?

I am not paranoid.

I just installed a set on my KEF Blade 2s. In addition to the previously discuss attributes, its very easy to move my speakers around as opposed to having the spikes.

Be afraid! When I had an entire system on SS, it was the (4) SS under both of my P10s that made the single biggest improvement!!

I had the same with my PS Audio PPP when I placed it on top the Stillpoints component stand with original Stillpoints attached. Huge improvement.

One day I'll spring for a set of Ultra SS's.
