Some of them sound as good as any digital available. None sound worse than CD quality.

Okay, maybe I am getting it. Streaming the 'idina' MQA version on Tidal tonight, I saw the source was 24/48 as opposed to 16/44.1 as typical from Tidal. Okay, for free, I will take it! It is also good music and I like that release from Idina. Not bombastic Broadway stuff...

Ok ... so the goal if I understand correctly is to greatly improve streaming quality which is always good as I use Tidal quite a bit to listen to new music before I either buy the HR download or find it on vinyl(preference) and not necessarily be "better" other HR formats from a download perspective. That said to take full advantage you WILL need a DAC that decodes MQA correct?

Yes. You need the MQA DAC for the full experience.

Why? Isn't the mqa being decoded in the software and then a simple pcm stream sent to one's dac? I don't understand the role of the mqa dac besides decoding the stream further down the chain than the software. |

The new music server/streamer from NAD that was just announced looks very interesting, roon ready, MQA and a lot of other nice features but it requires you to use your own DAC which many prefer here anyway. Price looks reasonable for what your getting

One thing NAD doesn't support is DSD which may be an issue for some, but other than that I agree it seems to be a very high value product release.

Anyone who have access to a computer should probably download the Tidal application and play the MQA Masters of their preferred music.
IMO, it is a simple question of time before all dac manufacturers include MQA decoding. |

I just opened up the Tidal app on Silenzio, did the software update and now playing Master quality albums to my Esoteric K-03X. Going to play around for a bit and see how this compared to hi-rez files on my server!
