HDTracks has the Reference Recording version to download. The Telarc version I like is CD 80274 and is available on Amazon for under $10. Tom

Rather than suggest titles, I will suggest labels. There are a few out there that do a good job with classical. Reference Recordings, Chesky, Channel Classics, 2L Records, Harmonia Mundi all come to mind. Telarc was also good but they our long gone as a business. Same with Dorian. If you can find them at used CD stores, they are worth the effort.

Excellent recommendations. The Mahler recording is exceptional. Surprised nobody has mentioned Mahler’s 2nd Symphony. The last movement of that symphony will put any system to the test. The Ivan Fischer version on Channel Classics is amazing. |
