Hello all.

I have been lurky for a couple weeks and i have to say that this forum is really a friendly group. I spent yesterday reading the entire Ivan to Dan Amati Sale and was blown away by the enthusiasm members had for Dan's new speaker purchase.

A couple of my hobbies: woodworking and Quail hunting. I am currently getting a new bird dog trained. It's not an easy process with this dog.

I see there is a forum here for a few vices, i.e. Cigars and drink.

As I have learned more about Audio Aficionado forums and the high quality of its members, I wanted to spend a few moments introducing myself.

I think its time for me to upgrade my HT and music equipment. Currently, I am having my first receiver a yamaha cr640 (1979) reworked. I want to use my original speakers (polk-audio monitor 7's) and set up that system in my workshop just for nostalgia sake.

In the near future I will likely add a few new pieces of equipment to my ht. Currently I am looking to upgrade my Blue Ray player so if any of you have any suggestions, I am listening (why does that last sentence make my checkbook quiver? ). I also will likely replace my Denon Avr and some of the speakers in the near future.

So, to Ivan and the other active members, I have really enjoyed reading and now hopefully will add to commentary.

Thanks for a great forum

Joe

Hi... I just found this forum and I like it. It goes together with listening to my audio gear. Very entertaining. There is a sense of humor combined with great info and discussions and pictures, here! It is an audio high to follow the posts here on AA.

I got started with Marantz back in the early 70's and I still have some. I got really high in the mid 90's when I bought a McIntosh 2205 and a C27. I added an MR78 and I've never had the necessity to attempt the tech world. I just enjoyed the music until a year or so ago when I discovered some audio forums and then I got the urge to upgrade my gear. I kept the 2205 but replaced it with 1.2kw'ers and the other source that I had was a portable Panasonic CD player (yikes) which I replaced with a McIntosh MCD500.

I'm currently slowly renovating my condo apartment. It isn't easy because it is old plaster and cement. But I've got some 20 amp dedicated circuits now and I'm thinking ahead to my system placement, etc. I'm grateful for this forum for the help and ideas that are here. My gear is all safe and stored for the time being except for a Marantz 2270 in one room and a McIntosh 4100 in the other room.

When things get set up I will be proud to get some pictures up - but it could be a little while.

I hope I have some experiences that might help someone somewhere and I hope my questions open doors for others, too. I think an Audio Aficionado Fest is a great idea and I would eagerly attend. And I will be subscribing soon.

Have fun.
