Mono 275s aren't enough for Futuras. Now if you only had 2301's

Hi Paul,

I see you finally got yourself a pair of Harbeths!!!

Last year I had the pleasure of listening to a pair of Usher Audio BE-10 louspeakers in the home of an audio friend. Driven with only a McIntosh MA2275 integrated that was being fed via a vinyl front end I came away so very impressed.

I'm not sure where in Toronto you could have a listen to these big speakers, but I think it worth your while.

There is of course the BE-20, but after hearing the BE-10 I would think you'd need a very big room to take advantage of the BE-20's output.

Rick.

A few additional alternatives are the B&W 800 Diamonds along with perhaps the Focal Scala's or Maestro's.

I did auditioned three speakers today.

1. Kef Blade - I was surprised how good they were with McIntosh gears but with two drivers each side don't think they will sing in my room due to size .

2. Wilson Audio Sasha - Clean. very detailed , excellent bottom end but got me worried that if I can listen to them in long period without the fatigue.

3.B&W 802 Diamonds - Very interesting...they were paired with Classe pre and Power with Krell CD player . They were pretty good but sound little dry on my ears I would love to try with my Mc gears.

Next step would be try the Scala's .

Paul. from your descriptions of the above speakers, I think we hear the same things. I would describe the same things that you heard with the Sashas and the 802 di's. I actually liked the 802,except for the tweeter. I also listened to the Focal Maestro,an outstanding speaker except for it's tweeter also. I think one has to be very careful in choosing a speaker that uses beryllium or diamond for use in their tweeters. The only beryllium tweeter that I actually liked was on the Salon 2.

I think maybe the Dynaudio would be a good choice for an audition.
