Currently I own 6 different models of SF speakers, each and every pair is outstanding in their own unique way. Fit & finish is extraordinary on every pair regardless of price range.

The Factory in Italy is producing record numbers of all models. Clearly the Audio World recognizes the painstaking attention to detail, and enormous value these speakers represent.

Did I mention they sound pretty good too.

Great article, i like the way it has been written and i do agree with the writer. I do hope that he is wrong with his (prediction / premise) and that Sonus Faber don't follow the way of B&W and offshore almost everything. Only time will tell on how Sonus Faber play their cards and it will be interesting to see if the writer has assumed correctly. But for now i will just enjoy the Sonus Faber's i have without having to face the predicament of made in China until it's time to upgrade. I don't plan on upgrading for quite a long time as i have only had them for a few months and very happy (over the Moon) with them.

Their more recent models are radical departure from the past in all respects, their designs look like they hired H. R. Giger as the chief designer. The new Sonus faber will win new customers I'm sure, but will lose a lot of us. That's all I'm saying.

I like companies when they're smaller, when they don't have to worry about distractions. Magic really shines through in their earlier models because they reflect the ideal and passion of the designer in their purest form. When they get big or get acquired, that original DNA is destroyed. Them expanding the spectrum of products and consequently having to build (or outsource) factories in China is a symptom of this change - their focus is ROI, not art. Every company will undergo change at some point, but since their change is something I'm not excited about, I simply walk away.
Ok this makes more sense.

Serblin does diverge from the example somewhat in that his greatest work was his last before selling the company.

I don't know what the issue is with newer SF, but then I never heart the GHomage. But I tell you something, I listened to my GEvolutions tonight for several hours - and they just sound amazing! Not sure where the GH could top it. The highs and midrange are even better than what I recall from my former Quad ESL 2905 (I know, made in China). Well, just had to make this point before I turn of the light, deeply satisfied ... Good night!

There are only two Serblin speakers I would own myself: Guarneri Homage and Stradivari. Paolo has more than equaled that for me in less than half the time.

Then again I tend to be far more critical than most.
