Default Interesting observation?

Today our good friend Ivan sent me a new pair of WW balanced cables to connect my HT processor to my 1.2kw monoblocks. The system had been on for about four hours when I turned it off to swap cables. The amps were still cold - as they always are even when I drive the system hard all day on the weekend. I was replacing Furutech 'blue heavens'. When I disconnected these cables their connectors on the amp side were VERY HOT. The new cables have been in there for 3 hours and are cold.

Ben... That does seem odd; the new WW cables will take approx 50-100 hours to really settle in.

What are your initial impressions?

You can always run tomorrow... I'm starting to wonder about your commitment to the hobby.

Ankkor.......Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Blue Heaven power cable is Nordost, not Furutech. If the power cable you were using is the Nordost Blue Heaven, it is only rated at 10 amps load despite the 15 amp IEC connectors. Smaller gauge wire always gets hot when it is pushed to it's rated current capacity. Your amplifier will demand more current than a 16 AWG power cable can deliver. At 120 volts the MC1.2Kw amplifier can draw as much as 12 amps on peaks or sustained high output power. Install a 2 meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cord on each amp. It is 12 AWG and can accomadate the power demand of the 1.2KW without breaking a sweat, not to mention they sound spectacular.

Reading you post again, perhaps you are speaking of the Nordost Blue Heaven interconnects which I believe are unbalanced. If you are talking about the interconnects being hot, that does seem unusual.

Yes - my mistake - they are Nordost 'Blue Heaven' XLR cables. They were plugged into the balanced input jack and the selector switch on the 1.2's were set to 'balanced' when the original cables were installed.

Ankkor.......Are there any heat issues with the Wireworld balanced interconnects? Is the chassis of the MC1.2KW warm where the connectors are located that could account for heat transfer to the connectors?
