I really like how this system handles both music and movies.
What do you use to power the Mezzo?

I have three MXR20s, one each for L/C/R. I use the VXR20 for the Alidas. As I mentioned in my link, which 2CH sources such as my Vivaldi stack, Naim CD555 or Linn LP12se - I connect directly to the KXR20 and only the L/R amps and speakers are active. For all video sources, the RS20i sends a passthrough signal to the KXR and seperate center/surround/sub signals to the other amps/subs. Not quite as nice/simple as a dedicated 2CH system but gets lots of use by me for music and family/friends for movies

for a couple years I also had ARC Ref 250 amps for L/R - and would swap speaker cable and input cable to them for 2channel and than back to MXR for HT. with the "20" upgrade, I actually started enjoying the MXRs over the 250s but its a personal preference thing. I got rid of the 250s but still use a Ref40/Ref150 with Duette2s in my cabin.

Dont mean to thread hijack, but tried to send you a PM on this and it wouldnt work for some reason. I bought a Datasat RS20i a few months back but havent had time to get it set up or screw with it much. Was wondering what software, etc., you used for setup and if you could make recommendations on a remote. Reason I ask is the local dealership I purchased through basically knows nothing about it (and knew this going in) and I havent been in too much of a hurry as I am still waiting on getting the theater redone, so its still just a toy at this point.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I use a Savant Pro remote solution with a central control hub and local hubs and remotes in each control location. The RS20i is controlled over IP. I had my RS20 setup by the Datasat rep as I bought one of the first from my dealer and they were training staff on using the measurement tools and DIRAC Live setup SW....you may be able pay an AV integrator to perform this

if you have questions related to RS20 or other HT setup thoughts just start a new thread.

A bit after getting the Sophias, I just shut off the center and surround channels as the other speakers (VA) did not mesh well with the Sophias.

Rather than buy yet more speakers, I just stopped using the center and back channel speakers and they are now in a storage closet.

I don't really miss the additional channels.

The Sophias are so dynamic, detailed, and spatial...all the things we love about them...they work well for my infrequent movie viewing.

For some movies, I do use the LFE input on the REL. But for most movies, I just set the Sophias for "large" and use the REL high-level (speakon) cable and its great.

But, if could put in Wilson center and surrounds and sub (and stay married), I would...just 'cuz I like playing with gear.

I have a full Wilson home theater. MAXX 2s for L/R, Watch 2 for center, Sophia 1s for surround. It’s a great setup.

As my room is almost completed after over a year of house renovations, Alexia/Mezzo combination for home theatre is top notch. I spent th afternoon doing some fine tuning with positioning and the SPL meter, before loading the new Star Wars, supremely awesome!

Audiohippo. Your profile pics show B&W for the mains. I’m assuming those are older pics. How do the Alexias compare to them?

Yes, if you skip through the pages you will see up to date pictures. I owned B&W for many years 803D/800D and then 802D2. The switch to what was then the Sasha v2's was a dramatic change in clarity and overall sonics. The Alexia's are again a massive step above the Sasha's. Alexia's in combination with the Mezzo is first class all the way.
