Default Kimber 8TC vs Paul Speltz Anti-cables

2 days ago I replaced the Anticables by the Kimber 8TC Dan gave me : what a surprise ! Even for a very short length as mine ( 2 x 30 centimeters ! ), the Kimber kicked the ass of the Speltz, in terms of overall Refinement and Bass dynamics and resolution....
The stereo image changed also but I will need more time to be sure on this. It seems more focus, the width seems more narrow, but deepness increased.

I thought that the Speltz were dynamic and transparent. Well, they may be but the Kimber are in an other league here.
The details and resolution of the Kimber is awesome.
I listened yesterday to a record I know by heart : Eva Cassidy and Chuck Brown.
I thought I could not discover anything on that one but boy, the 8TC made a difference like it was the first time I listened to it ! Not on every tune, but on some of them you hear both musical sounds and effects and noises in the room that just disappear with the Speltz !
Moreover, I always thought the recording quality of this album to be rather poor. Yesterday I discovered I was wrong. Not only the record became much more listenable with the Kimber but the level of REFINEMENT this cable brought made the record highly MUSICAL ! just unbelievable !
And for only 30 centimeters ! imagine if I was using longer lengths !
I will investigate more with other recordings the difference of sound between the 2 cause I still have some trouble to believe what I heard.
Once again, Dan's advice ( and gift now ) proved to be highly effective, as always. Dan you're a true Master.

Thank you Kimber and Thank you Dan !

Ps : I can't imagine what the high end Kimber cables do over the 8 TC....

Hi Jérôme,

several years ago that I use Kimber 8TC is a very good cable
Now, I use bi-wiring, the 8TC is connected to the woofer and I have a Kimber monocle xl which is connected to the midrange and treble
it works just fine

Cédric

Thanks for the input Cédric.
What is the difference in sound between the 8TC and the Monocle for mids and treble ?

Jérôme.......I am so pleased to know the Kimber 8TC speaker cable has improved your system's sound. Kimber 8TC has been winning admiration for a long time, and represents an excellent value on top of the premium performance it delivers.

I have been using Kimber speaker cable since 1981, when I purchased my first lengths of it from Ray Kimber himself during a demo of his then new 4TC at an audio store in Beaverton, Oregon. I was so impressed with the speaker cable that I made a point to tour his small manufacturing facility in Ogden, Utah. I have continued using Kimber cable all these years, and now use the 8TC speaker cable on both my main system, and my two channel tube system in the studio. It is a high performance speaker cable, practically immune to RFI and EMI by the way the positive and negative wires are braided across each other, and at 9 gauge there is plenty of current carrying ability, and low voltage drop. Kimber 8TC is an excellent speaker cable that I can recommend to anyone.

The kimber 8TC is already excellent, but it seems that the monocle xl goes even further in the speed and richness of sound

There's an 8-foot pair of Kimber 8TC with factory-terminated bananas on Audiogon right now in 8/10 condition for $185 plus shipping from a great seller, if anybody's interested...

Dan,

You are lucky : visiting factories is my preferred hobby after listening to music and sailing. I'm always amazed to see how things are made.
I wonder why there are not regular paying tours for "industrial tourism".
I would pay to visit factories...

Jerome...Kimber Kable is awesome Like Dan, I've used it for years. I now use the top of the line Select and Palladian power cords throughout my system. If you like what you're using now, you'll love the Monocle XL and Select line

it's only money
