A wise choice. Sophia 3 with the MX-Rs will sound better than Sasha with V-5

jax4736.....congrats on becoming a Wilson owner .......your Ayre V-5 will go real nice with your Wilson S3's, but Ayre MX-R's will definitely make your Wilson S3's sing! .......Philip

I think they will arrive around mid-March or so. I'll be using the V-5 for the meanwhile but expect to get the MX-R's late summer. I am wondering how long it will take for them to fully break in.

I forgot to add: yes I've read all the professional reviews of the Sophia 3. I undertook more research than probably any other purchase I've made. Naturally, many listening sessions were part of the process.

I still don't understand the magic behind Wilson speakers. One thing they do - and I've yet to find their equal - is the soundstaging and especially the air between instruments. They present a cavernous soundstage in front of me (any model in the line) and I can point to just about any instrument in the orchestra. It is unbelievably life-like. I know many folks listen to pop music, jazz, and small ensembles, but with large ensemble music, their ability to do this is really something. I won't question the reason for the magic, I'll just enjoy it!
