Elac and Andrew Jones - auto calibrating sub
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK5fKs1-Abg[/ame]
They talk about the new Elac speaker range first. To be honest, not very groundbreaking. Similar to the first gen Pioneer speakers perhaps with slightly nicer cabinets. But the subwoofers are quite special. No EQ/adjustments But they have Bluetooth 4.0LE and you can download an app for yr device which has a mic built in. Granted the mic is not calibrated. So here's the neat trick. Bring the mic/device close enough for a near field measurement and now the room effects are negated enough for the app to have an idea of how the mic stacks up against the subwoofer's near field response. So now you have a calibrated mic Without costing the earth. Neat, eh?

ok, so as subs are non- directional I am guessing you will get an equalisation on volume & not hz....as in low volume?? did I miss something?

I'd expect it would be a very basic Room EQ but done automatically compared to most subs where you have the adjustments but you would need some thing to measure and adjust accordingly
