Folks, just to clarify, the 40.1 speaker is a full range speaker. It does not compare at all with the SHL5. As good as the SHL5 can be, it sounds like a toy when directly compared to the 40.1.
Actually, even my Wilson WP8's sound like toys when listened side by side with the 40.1 ! Attachment 40186

Jerome, the new crossover seems as if it's going to raise the efficiency making it even easier to drive and an even better match for your MC225. Seems like this is going to be a no brainer upgrade for you!
Specs from website: Amp. suggestion - Works with a wide range of amplifiers, ideally from 35W/channel. Was it always at 35w? I thought I remembered it to be 50 watts, but I could be wrong. |

Sensitivity goes from 84dB for the 40.1 to 86 dB for the 40.2. Not a night and day difference IMO.

Price is a bit different. I have been quoted £12000 against £9500 for 40.1s.

But I am very curious to hear the sound of the 40.2.

Wow, that's almost 19,000 USD. I'm not sure if they will market it at that price here, but before they were roughly $13,000 ... that's a huge difference.

I just have been corrected : the Radial 2 is already on the 40.1 !
So the steep price step is just for the new filter !!

I am curious too, but my nearest Harbeth dealer currently has no idea when he will even see a pair, let alone have some for demo!
