Default A story for treating my listening room

I've seen a few threads around the net where people chronicle their journey with acoustic treatments. I've always found them very enlightening and entertaining (plus maybe it can save GIK from answering the same questions over and over!) so I thought I would share mine here on this forum for anyone who cares to read. For the moment, this thread is a temporary place holder, but actually committing to putting it here sort of forces me not to let this drag on for years, as it has already

Quick back story, I contacted GIK probably a year or more ago, and got some advice from Mr. Pape on my room. I've done some renovations, and taken forever out of my life with other interests and 'fixing' my room fell to the wayside. I like GIK and will be using their products (hence being in this forum). Excited to get to it!

Other info: I have REW and a Behringer ecm8000 mic for measuring my room, and will try to post measurement images before and after (plus some of moving speakers to find a good spot).

For anyone curious, the gear I use is listed below:
Speakers: Bryston Middle T
Power: Ayre VX-5
Pre: Ayre KX-5
DAC: Ayre QB-9 (original, haven't even done the 192 upgrade yet!)
Power conditioner: Shunyata Hydra Talos (on a dedicated 20a line)
Power cables are generally unremarkable, basic cables except a Hydra HC to the conditioner. Interconnects and speaker wire are Nordost Tyr (v1). Computer is a basically silent running custom from Puget Systems (Serenity SPCR base). Old PC was a beast that roared, and not fun once I switched to the USB dac

Here's a schematic with some room dimensions (and couch dimensions haha):

And a whole bunch of pictures from nearly every angle to get a sense of where things are:

Front view

Back view

Back view 2

Right side wall (big patio doors/window)

Left side wall

At back looking left

At back looking right

Through half wall

I know that the sliding glass doors on the left, and the big fluffy asymmetrical couch on the other side probably isn't ideal, but those are pretty well fixed in place...

Outstanding idea. Please post measurements and explain how you used them in conjunction with placing the treatments.

No problem! Just updated the OP with a whole bunch of pictures so you can see what I'm working with! Will contact GIK next and take some room measurement... hopefully soon!

I can't see the pictures at work. I'll check them when I get home.

I'll be looking forward to see some measurements.

Room treatment is one of the best improvement you can make and for less than a pair of interconnects. I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the results.

Great looking room and it actually looks like a pretty easy room with which to work. Should need minimal treatement.

I hope so! Bought this place because that room was reasonable for a 2 bedroom condo and most 'newer' places can't be set up too well for an audio room.

Will get back to this thread shortly with some more interesting things, maybe some measurements.

As luck would have it... I'm most likely moving to the UK for a few months right away and I might have to wait AGAIN on this. To be continued!
