Paul - I use the AIVS cleaning solution as a three step process. I use it with. VPI machine....the results have been great, haven’t had any issues since I started. Pretty much every record I’ve ever cleaned has turned out silent, no noise at all unless the album was a train wreck to begin with.

I've been using it for so long now I can't remember when I started. Also like AIVS products, which my son turned me onto.

Chuckle. Maybe the last thing you want to do. Puts moisture and whatever came out of your mouth on the record. A carbon fiber record brush makes a good alternative.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like a lot of variations on what everyone uses to clean their LP’s. Still leaning towards the AIVS.

That may be a Klaudio requirement, but water alone is not as effective as water + surfactants, particularly on grease (fingerprints). Or so says my experience.

I've yet to have any dirt, grease, smudge or fingerprint on an LP that the Klaudio couldn't easily remove using only distilled water. To be fair, most of my LPs are pretty clean, and I don't buy many used records.

I would tend to agree. A drop or two of something as simple as Dawn dish soap will help reduce the surface tension allowing the liquid to get into the grooves. This will allow for better cleaning action. The only thing is, it’s important to properly rinse with distilled water afterwards.
