I auditioned the D-06 a couple of weeks ago in my home. It was excellent. Really great bang for the buck. We listened with a friend's computer music library made up of both red book cd's and DSD downloads. We also compared the same cd recordings against my McIntosh MCD1100.

In our opinion the Luxman was very neutral, making good recordings sound VERY good and even poor recordings pleasant to the ear. In the A/B comparison the D-06 won hands down. Much better DAC in my opinion than the 1100. We listened to a few songs on the 1100 then downloaded the same cd to his computer and played it through the D-06. Noticeably better on the Luxman. We then played DSD music. Wow. Amazing. I have very little experience with DSD downloaded music but I loved it. Like a well recorded SACD only better. We used my Shindo gear for hours comparing and it was great fun.

I was always more of an analogue guy and probably still am but am now seriously considering getting the D-06, transferring all my cd's to a music server and selling my CD player. The sound was that much better. If you have a chance to check out the Luxman I think you will like it. As with all present Luxman products build quality was to a very high level as well. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for posting your impressions on the DA-06. Now I want it even more..... I have a PS Audio DAC and while it is a good DAC for the money, I would like to replace it with the Luxman DA-06. Over the past few months I have got my hands on a Luxman M600A amp which is truly exceptional. I can only imagine the magic when paired with the DA-06 and the Luxman Preamp C600F.

That would be nice, a complete luxman stack. I don't think you would be disappointed with the DA-06...

Gene - there is a mint condition used C-600f recently posted for sale on Audiogon at a great price. I am in no way connected to the seller, just thought you might be interested. Good luck!

Luxman c-600f in the house. Sounds great. Very sweet, hard to believe it is a solid state preamp. Very musical sounding preamp. I prefer this to ARC LS25mkII which I thought was a bit too tippy in the high frequencies and was a bit fatiguing. Happy camper here and a great price to boot.
