So I take it there are a lot more 306/303 CD owners here than 306/303T Pro SACD owners? I am looking at the latter and curious about reliability so far.

You cannot go wrong with the 303T pro sacd. IMHO, for its price to performance ratio, its a no brainer. .very flexible player. It can hold its own against other sacd players costing much much more. Plus you can choose between tube or solid state mode.

Thanks. I will probably end up with a 303T. But first I'm getting the Sony 5400es to see what all the fuss is about. I can't justify the $6500 without giving the $1500 Sony a try. I would just add a DAC but can't find any with the features of that Cary!

I haven't heard the 303T, but I did own the 303/300. A very flexible unit that was replaced by an Esoteric X03-se, which was replaced by the MCD-500 and now the MCD-1100.

Anyone have intermittent skipping issues with the 303t? My new unit is has very small skip, but you never know when.

If the Cary 306/200 is 24/192 then should be on par with the MCD500, which is also 24/192.

I've had a Cary 306 Pro for nearly five years. No reliability issues at all - though I did find one or two odd quirks. One of them was if redbook was set for maximum sampling rate i.e. 768 kHz, and then you inserted an SACD, the player won't playback the SACD. Odd, but by no means a show stopper.
