I'll let you know.
Jim, you’re going to want to put the Shunyata Alpha USB between your ISO-Regen and your TEAC; trust me on this....it will sound considersably better than the adapter.

Cheers, Stephen

Jim-

It will be interesting as to how profound the affect of the Regen is with the Alpha cable as well.

I certainly don't doubt your experience-based judgment, Stephen, but I thought I'd start by auditioning what Caelin Gabriel suggested in another thread--running the Alpha straight from the laptop to the DAC without any ISO REGEN intermediary to see if that approach at least equals what I hear with the Silver Starlight/ISO REGEN combination. The reasoning being that that would establish a solid baseline on which to evaluate the Alpha qua Alpha. After that, I could then play with various configurations--Alpha to ISO to adapter to DAC (thereby satisfying John's curiosity), Silver Starlight to ISO to Alpha to DAC, etc.

What worries me about all this, of course, is the possibility that I'll be compelled to PM Ivan about another Alpha. In which case I'll have to do my darnedest to explain to the "saint" (reference my GIK Alpha 4A thread) that the depletion of my wallet is all your fault.

Sounds fine, Jim. That's what's nice, you can do experiments on different configurations to see what works best. Let us know what configurations you try and how they work out. It will be interesting to learn of your results. Cheers.

[QUOTE=Puma Cat;958701]I've been A/B'ing (is that a word?) the Shunyata Venom and Delta RCA interconnects vs. my AQ Columbia ICs, and I'll report on that in a separate thread; letting the cables settle for a few days.

Stephen-

Any verdict on this?

I've appreciated all the positive posts on the Alpha USB. I've owned one since they first started shipping, but since my system was going through a major overhaul, it wasn't easy to sort out the Alpha's benefits. Also, to really appreciate the Alpha USB's contributions, I had to upgrade downstream digital cables as well. My transport is a Innuos Zenith Mk2 and this feeds a Chord Hugo M-Scaler via USB. This M-Scaler then feeds a Chord Hugo TT2 via a pair of S/PDIF cables. I opted for the Shunyata Alpha S/PDIF cables. My gosh did these deliver a huge upgrade. The Alpha products kick some serious butt. I couldn't be more delighted with the bang for the buck.

What I found really interesting was that the Alpha and Sigma USB cables use sliver conductors. The rest of the Shunyata lineup - including their S/PDIF cables - use copper conductors. I think it would be a really interesting to hear from Caelin or Grant on why they felt that silver was more appropriate in their USB cables.
