"Lou's in Encinitas has an unbeatable selection of CD's and a good selection of audiophile new vinyl, but their used record stock is getting pretty depleted."
Infact some recommend to stay away -- awaste of time. "Off The Record in North Park has gone downhill since their "glory days," selling a lot of their stock on the internet now. You should try Record City on 6th Ave in Hillcrest - probably the best used selection in the city. And while you're there...tucked away on a side street close by is Thirsty Moon Records"....a block North of University Ave. in Hillcrest. "They don't have a huge selection, but if you love obscure beat, garage, funk, reggae, punk, prog, or Kraut, this is the place for you. I can't think of any other store that regularly stocks albums by artists as wide-ranging as Erkin Koray, Los Vidrios Quebrados, and Bango." No personal experience -- sorry -- just thought I'd post what I found regarding SD shoppes. Bob
