Default The BEST or most memorable speakers you've auditioned.

Let's hear what speakers made you go "I want it" or "someday I will have it".

There are two speakers that really set an impression on me.

First:
- Klipsch Khorn (newest model) hooked up to a tiny tube integrated amp with an iPod dock on top. I don't remember the make. I played Roger Waters The Wall, Live in Berlin off my iPod. The sound was so big and powerful I wanted to turn it up, up & up.

Second:
- Avantgarde (I don't know which model) at CES. Again, the sound was open, big, & concert like.

My speakers at home are not even close to the big lifelike sound that the above mentioned speakers had. Someday I hope to have the space and money for either, maybe the Klipsch khorn 60th anniversary.

XRT2K prototypes @ CES years ago. Had the room to myself for what seemed like 2 hours. I knew they were something special from that moment on.

Most recent CES the JM Lab Maestro's on Boulder stuff - it sounded great but the staff of Boulder really went out of their way, and that made it very memorable.

For me there has nothing even been remotely close to the MBL Xtremes. They did not act like speakers, them seemed to energize the room with sound.

I spent several hours over a few days listening to them in Singapore in November. It was an audio epiphany.

2C3D complete system at Progressive Audio in the mid 90s.
System consisted of ASC tube traps, Spectral source, pre and amp, MIT cables and power conditioning and Avalon speakers.

They also interchanged the speakers in this room with Thiel CS6 and CS7

To this day a lasting impression.

The Dynaudio Evidence Master has been the most impressive speaker I've heard to date. I'll never be able to afford them but it was awe inspiring. These speakers driven by a 1000 system and 1.2k's was very memorable.

Maybe not the best speakers in the world, but the best I've ever "auditioned" in my own listening space was a pair of Joseph Audio Pearls. I bought these speakers and when I could never get them to sound "right", I put a listing on Audiogon and they soon sold.

Problem was, after I made the deal and was about to pack them for shipment cross-country, I thought I would shift them around a bit more, because they were supposed to really sound good.

Imagine my horror when all of a sudden, everything came together, focus, soundstaging, imaging, tonality, energizing the room better than any speaker I had ever heard,

It was with a heavy heart that I packed them and shipped them to their new owner.

The Joseph Audio Pearls are something else.

Thiel 3.7's have made the list. Paired with the MC2301's it was music to my ears

The ones I could afford...the Proac Response D100

The XRT2K's are beyond my budget but quite impressive...however the next one is love at first sight.

Never had the chance to audition them, but if money was no object...only one remains : Rockport Arrakis

BTW...that is not me in the picture

...does is show I like d'Appolito speakers ?

WOW! both the speakers and the two rooms have me green with envy!
I hope to someday have a dedicated room like those. they seem to bear the hallmarksof a Rives Audio designed room. Dreamy
