Default Any recommendations on a LED tv?

I am looking to add a new tv to the office and was considering picking up the Samsung UN55B8500, has anyone see this tv or can recommend something different?

Thanks.

Do you need the TV right away? CES is just around the corner (Jan 7-10). There will be many new LED TVs coming. They won't be available for a few months though.

Michael,

I've got the Samsung's in my home. The kitchen, ht, mbr and mb are outfitted with this brand. Made a big difference in picture quality when I switched to DirectHD TV and better hdmi cables. I bought my Samsungs right before they introduced the new ultra thin models @ 240 hz. The new ones look great when set up properly. I'm also a big fan of Sony.

Sammy's are still your best bet, and will remain so post-CES.

I own about 9 LCD and plasma TV's and the picture on my (one) Samsung is fully the equal of any of them - but I would like to express one caveat.

If you are using the TV in a sound system, all is great with the Samsung, but should you be considering putting it into a cabinet (As mine is currently residing) and do not plan to use anything but the built-in speakers - the Samsung's bottom mounted, downward firing internal speakers tend to shoot to the rear, into the cabinet, and the sound is diffuse, it is often difficult to understand newscasters, etc.

I have taped cardboard strips to the back of the TV to bounce the sound forward, but the sound is clearly inferior to front mounted speakers in my Sony's etc. in similar applications.

I do understand that in this forum, most of you install your TV's in home theater systems with dozens of McIntosh components making the sound wonderful, but for watching the news etc. I have a few TV's set up in rooms where I don't want surround sound or sub-woofers, and use them in cabinets, or on shelves originally intended for CRT television sets.

Just a word for consideration.

I have the samsung 47" LED LCD tv in my kitchen and it gives a great picture as well as being razor thin. Sound can be difficult to hear sometimes unless I pull it away from the wall a bit then it improves.

Samsung LED's are a great display. The 8500 series look great. I've seen the Samsung LED next to a Pioneer 60" Kuro and was very impressed. I wouldn't kick the LED out of bed!

I have the Samsung 8500 and I think it is pretty good. Of course, it was a replacement for the big black Mitsubishi box from 2003.
