Default How many REF PHONO 2 owners upgraded ?

Hello Folks,

Still procrastinating about upgrading my REF PHONO 2 to the SE version, I 'm curious to see the results on this poll.
Many thanks in advance !

At this point, I do not plan to upgrade...just have too many other things that are of higher priority. Additionally, I have only put about 80 hours on it in, what, eight months...still 350 hours from fully broken in.

It is trite to say that this upgrade is one of the most significant upgrades I have made. I realize that many audio enthusiasts tout the latest and greatest, but this upgrade is very impressive. You will not be disappointed...

I have decided to enjoy what I have and stop hunting permanently for the next upgrade for many reasons.
I knew it would not last - not even a month

My advise is go for it. Life is short

Shane :
Honestly, I am really not sure to make the upgrade. Even in Belgium, at 2500 euros, it is a fair amount of money and I'm very happy with the sound of my system as is. I do not need "more " of anything.
My poll and question was just to see if I'm alone by not going straight in this upgrade or not.
I would also love to hear Howie's point on this, but he remains mysteriously silent.

Greg,
What have you noticed in terms of an improvement compared to your ref phono 2. How many hours do you have on the SE at this point? I don't really need convincing as I am waiting for ARC to contact me re: the timing of my ref phono 2's upgrade so much as I am interested to hear your experience.
Thanks
Chris

The most noticeable area of improvement is the bass. It is far more defined, tighter and effortless. That was right out of the box. I have only about 80 hours on the SE, and I keep smiling each time I listen...

Greg

ps. Since the Mayan calendar says the world is coming to an end in December, you might as well spend your retirement savings now...

Hi Greg

That sounds exactly what I am looking for. With the tighter bass, is the drive improved?
When I had a demo early last year, that was about the only thing missing with the Ref2.

I assume the " airy " high frequencies have not changed as well as the see through transparency in the mid range?

cheers
