I have owned countless Corvettes, but I'm in the Porsche camp now.

I still have to see the Corvette in person (they are still a very rare sight in Europe) so I can't really compare. All I can say though is that it's very hard to beat the German in terms of fit and finishes.

I've tried to avoid the obvious Porsche but all it took was a 10 minutes drive to decide buying it. It was a great car and I miss it. I doesn't make any sense having a car here but I'm still thinking of getting a new one.

As they stated in the written article (read it tonight in my dentist's office), if the GS had the automatic rather than the stick it would have been even faster. Wonder when it will get the 10spd auto from the ZL1 Camaro?

I am trying not to think about that.

Craig - on the upside, you can get that 10spd trannie in the 2017 Ford F150 with the twin-turbo V6 engine for a lot less money than the ZL1. And, if you get the chance to run your GS around the Sears Point Raceway (is that where they were?) you'll be about 125ft in front of that Porsche Carrera S after just one lap. After 10 laps he will only see your taillights on the longer straights. GM, +1.

Key point with all these cars would be the driver. These times were all set by a real race car driver so are reproducible. However, 95% of the rest of us won't touch those times and would probably see time deltas compress across most of these cars if we were able to drive them all. Most would drive at 7 or 8/10ths of the Cars capability whereas the test driver is at 10/10ths.

Within them, the Cars that made us amateurs feel the safest would probably be the ones we drove the fastest. That might not be the Cars with the highest horsepower/torque. Tracking out (second half of a turn) of a high speed corner is pucker time as you have to trust your line and your acceleration and GRIP will result in you hitting the outside curb exactly where needed - not too late as you have lost time or too early as you are now off the track.

Come out of the corner slower and your speed at the end of the straight is slower. The more turns the slower our times would be...

I haven't driven my GS on the track yet as I wasn't able to get it to SC for the winter.

Perhaps the biggest difference between pro drivers and us mere mortals is the pro's are almost always driving someone else's car with no financial stake in a crash while we see $$signs popping up when we hit one of those 'pucker moments'. Don't want to crash our C350, but financially a whole lot different then crashing your GS.
