Not sure if it was posted elsewhere on the site but Popular Photography named the X-Pro2 their camera of the year. I narrowly beat out the D-500 and 5D MK IV.

2016 was a great year for Fuji, and they are going to continue to come on strong in 2017 with the release medium format GFX in Q1.

the 16 mm 1.4 prime is awesome. Sharp as a tack. I can't believe the wonderful color photos coming straight out of the camera. I particularly love the "film" settings for provia/ velvia/etc. - takes me back to the good old days. My 16 year old daughter, of course, had no idea what I was talking about.

Yep, I've heard that the 16mm is one of Fuji's best lenses, which is really saying something.

The film settings are absolutely wonderful. You should give yourself a treat at shoot something in B&W with the Acros film preset. Not only is the film setting absolutely gorgeous, especially for rendering B&W skin tones in portraiture, but you can see what you are photographing in B&W through the EVF! Waay cooool...

question about the power grip. I'm finding the X-t2 to be a tad heavy and somewhat uncomfortable in the hand. It's smaller, which is what I wanted, but it's dense and I find myself grabbing a bit. While it's the reverse of my attempt to slim down from SLRs, I'm considering the power grip. That's still smaller than an SLR with a power grip, but it'll be a pretty big (i.e., not inconspicuous) device with the power grip. Other than the ergonomics, I would have planned to do without the extra functionality and performance from the power grip, just due to the size.

Thoughts appreciated.

The power grip is great; if you have larger hands and have some trouble handling the smaller X-T2, it gives additional room for your hands to balance the camera. It's also really nice when using the camera with a larger lens, like the 50-140 or 100-400. In boost mode it turns the X-T2 into a beast. The extra battery capacity is nice, too.

Because I have a very friendly dealer/friend, I have taken leave of my senses and have brought home both a Nikon D500 and a Fuji X-T2 to compare, with the promise that I'd "take" one or the other.

What do you folks think?

Both are darn nice cameras. and i need another "darn nice camera" like a hole in the head.
