Default Grado Statement V2

I purchased and received a Grado Statement V2 from Ivan. I have been on the road, so I just had the opportunity to get it set up this past weekend. WOW. This is an amazing new cartridge from Grado. I would be lying if I knew what about it is new or what about it makes it sound so sweet! But I can say this is the most musical cartridge I have had in my system. It is replacing a Shelter 5000 which I liked a lot, but this is taking my vinyl to a whole new level. The awesome midrange that Grado is known for and incredible dynamics accross the board. I must have spun 50 records over the weekend and cannot wait to spin some more.
Thank you Ivan and thank you Grado!

Congratulations on the new cartridge!!! This sounds like a VERY interesting replacement for my well used Lyra Skala. I'm debating between the Statement V2 and a Kiseki Purpleheart. Ah, choices...

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my Dynavector when the time comes.....I've got about 1,000 hours on mine. I'm very intrigued by the Kiseki Purple Heart as well. I know it has a nice we'll know synergy with VPI tables not to mention that it was or still is Harry Weisfeld's (of VPI) favorite cartridge. Another big fan is mastering engineer Steve Hoffman. He has a couple of threads over on his forum about the Purple Heart and how wonderful it sounds. I really don't have any complaints about the Dynavector, it's a great cartridge but would love to hear what that next step up may bring.

I find myself in the same predicament trying to choose between those two cartridges as a potential upgrade to my Ortofon Cadenza Bronze.

I am also intrigued by the Grado Statement for my VPI table. In my system, it was the most musical cartridge I've owned by far, and the midrange was to die for. I've owned transfiguration, sound smith, ortofon, and the kiseki was the best of the bunch. It is a great match for the VPI 3d arms as well. Not sure if they Grado will mate well with VPI arms, as they look much heavier or bulkier compared to their previous model. But I want to try to the Grado as well. It seems I'm not alone. One concern with the Grado is the loading. It is a very odd combination of recommended gain and loading. Recommended settings are 47k but due to its lower 1mv output, I would need to run it on my MC settings. My only options are 10 - 1000 load setting. Joshnic or Ivan, what settings are you using for the Grado on your phono stage?
