B&W PM1 makes its world debut from whathifi.com

I was fortunate enough to audition the new PM1 over the weekend... They were driven by McIntosh C48, MC 402's, and Sonos and CD material were plentiful.

I was only able to audition them for approximately 40 minutes.. And for their size I was very impressed. They had approximately 21 hours of burn-in but next to the 805Di's stood up very well minus the dynamic qualities and low frequency extension of the 805di. You would probably say that the new PM1 is a true B&W performing monitor until the 805Dis get introduced. That's not a bad thing to comment on at all... They are alone an excellent sounding monitor but without limitations (noted)- a smaller scale performer but terrific none the less. I heard some Clapton and I brought my Melody Gardot which as a reference disc on different systems... Sounded beautiful. More to follow...

Beautiful build quality and amazing stands that I wish were available to other monitors in the B&W lines... Because of the polished wood and three post design- they are not sand fillable but heavy and well manufactured.

I love the look of these. Probably my favorite B&W speaker based on appearance only. The stands are also gorgeous.

I had the opportunity to listen to the new PM1's last week and was very impressed. Great imaging and separation. Strong and tight bass that you would expect from a speaker three times the size. Was very accurate but I did not feel it would be fatiguing. I really liked what I was hearing.

I was considering maybe going for a pair.

Then I saw the sensitivity was only 84dB spl.

My Rogue Cronus Magnum is a hefty 90 WPC, but would it (or most tube integrateds) be powerful enough for these little guys?
