That was the one and only thing I didn't really like when I first got my Classic 2. I asked my dealer and he said it was normal with c-j preamps. My speakers were only 90dB sens. and it was cranking at 7 or 8 o'clock.... new speakers are 87dB, much better control over the volume. I can't even imaging how quickly the volume ramps up with 100 dB efficient speakers.
