Smokey, I use an Emotiva MPS-1 amp and DCS-1 Pre/pro for five channels of my 7.1 home theater, for which they are fine. For music, they were not acceptable. You need more than watts - you need design, implementation, and high current.

Emotiva's new amps are a big improvement over their older amps like the MPS-1 for music.
I agree the MPS-1 is fine for HT of most home systems.

My Emotive XPA drives my speakers much better than my McIntosh MA2275. It pains me to state this, but it solidifies my speakers bottom end.

Emotiva's new XPR amps should step it up another notch.

My 501's are in a different league, performance and price!
