Sucks to be you, eh? Getting to play around with audio gear... jeez. Life is tough.

I know! But, someone has to do it, right? I'll sacrifice myself, while doing some new rib technique on the BGE. Maybe even try some planked salmon.

Those little things weigh a ton.

I am thinking about buying a preamp and amp for my kid who just graduated college. He needs a job first, though.

I've been running a Bel Canto Evo2 power amp for nearly 8 years now and have as yet to find anything I genuinely prefer to it.
Note however that it is a Tripath based amp and NOT one of the newer IcePower units, which I didn't rate anything like as highly.

For reference, I've directly compared the Evo to:
- Canary CA608 EL34 valve integrated
- The Naim stack it replaced (82/hicap/200)
- BC Ref 1000s
- Coincident 300b valve monoblocks
- Leak EL34 valve amp (heavily modded)
- NVA power amp
Forgotten how many other amps I've also heard in less familiar systems. I run with some fairly efficient horn loaded speakers.

Ever got your goodies home and "she who must be obeyed and placated" has invited company over and doesn't want any tearing apart the system, wants the lawn mowed, flower pots moved around, shrub clipped, BBQ started, then the guests arrive, the wine needs opening, food cooking, entertaining until midnight, while all the while you keep looking over at the boxes within which hide the new toys that you so very much want to open, but can't. Then the next morning you have to rush out to meet people at the hangar (or wherever) and entertain them, then rush over to fix some plumbing issue at a rental, then anticipate grocery shopping for the other guests arriving tonight.......... Maybe, just maybe, you will be able to play with the toys tomorrow morning. Two whole days after acquisition. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning and cannot understand why I have to eat my breakfast before I get to rip off the wrapping......

Ah, well. The review of the BC 500M's and Pre3 will be delayed a bit longer.

Maybe I can treat myself to a real good wine tonight to ease the passage of time.

When I know that a new piece of equipment is going to be coming in I ensure that my schedule is clear including plans with my wife. Even clear my business calendar. It would kill me to have a new piece of equipment in the house and not open it for two days.

Hooked up and playing.

Initial impressions:

Great PRaT.

Are those MY speakers?!

Why have I not heard that (fill in almost anything) before?

Why are there sounds wider than the speakers are?

The flute is exactly positioned where it should be.

More later

I had a rather heavy piece of new equipment sitting in its box for THREE WEEKS once, because I had a bad back and couldn't lift it out of the box!
