Default Terrible Affect of Lock-down In New Zealand.

Hi All,

As some of you may know, we are in Lockdown here in New Zealand- day 7!

I'm working from home, so not grossly effected, and my HiFi system is getting a hammering. The weather is unseasonable good (Autumn here) but travel is very limited and the country is in strict isolation. I live on the Northshore of Auckland (1.5m people) and its very quiet- very hard to get used to as you are used to the roar of the City. Nighttime is disconcerting even quieter - very unnerving.

Unfortunately, my youngest brother's Mother-in-law passed away overnight from Motor Nuron Disease- she was only in her mid-70's.

As she passed away in the Waikato, and my Brother & his family live in Snells Beach (about 3 hours drive away)- they will not be able to attend the funeral.

Just awful.

Stay Safe!

Nick

Sorry to hear Nick, it’s awful that the funeral of a loved one can’t be attended. Here in Washington State we have a similar situation, all under a “stay-at-home” order, with guidelines that only immediate family may attend funerals and must stay feet apart. Stay safe.

Your Governor, Jay Inslee, has got it goin' on, in my opinion. He had scientists at Fred Hutch sequence and characterize the spread/mutation spectrum of the virus in WA state.

Very sorry for your loss. It is a very unfortunate situation in many parts of the world. People get admitted alone, they die alone and are buried alone. Very sad and tragic times.
