2112.......I hope you hung them well. That would be a rude awakening.

Dan, why didn't you just use a wireless bridge? I have a 1' length of cable running from my 300 to an Airport Express plugged into my power conditioner. You cannot see either unit. AE is connected to my home wireless network. No drop outs, no wires, no tearing up drywall.

Jim.......I chose hard wire because that is what McIntosh recommended, and so that there would not be any potential drop out problems. I have so many wireless devices in the home already, one less signal in the air is a good thing here.

By far it was installing the stacked FM Stereo Probe Yagi's on the roof my 2-story home in Millersville, MD.

The process was as follows:

1) Plumb and mount tripod with square-head lag bolts.
2) Go into attic and mark location of bolts.
3) Remove bolts, go back into attic and install blocking between rafters.
4) Remount tripod and install lower mast with rotator.
5) Drag service platform up on roof in parts and assemble on peak.
6) Assemble stacked array on saw horses on ground.
7) Drag antenna assembly up on roof without damage.
8) Mount antenna array/assembly onto rotator and thrust bearing.
9) Attach guy wires to ring-bolts and plumb entire antenna.
10) Run cables into attic and down to sound room {difficult}.
11) Disassemble service platform and bring down in parts.
12) Seal tripod feet with tar, secure cables with standoffs, align with north.
13) Go inside, attach coax cable, open a beer, and then tune stations.

All in one day.. ok maybe into Sunday for the complete job. It was sooo extreme!!

I didn't want any visible wires, so I put wall plates with connectors near each monitor (by the ceiling), and one on the wall near the floor to connect the amp to. The difficult part was getting the wiring from the attic, through the wall and down to to the lower wall plate. It was a Bitch! The thing that really made it difficult was insulation in that interior wall.

Safely mounting the JBL 4401 monitors to the wall was also a challenge. They are pretty heavy for their size.

Love that MR78... way to go! ...so prominently and beautifully displayed. I listen to mine every day.

The single most difficult installation I've had was installing two surround speakers in my den when we lived in the Dallas area back in the 80's. I had to fish speaker wire down the front wall to the equipment rack and down the rear side walls to the speakers. The room had a raised center portion of the ceiling which meant I had to squeeze in between it and the roof to get to the rear corners. Fortunately, that was about 20 years and 30 pounds ago, but it was still hot and sticky, both from the humidity and from the insulation. Yuck!

Of course, honorable mention goes to the installation of my 501's two years ago when I cut my hand (at the inside base of my thumb) by falling off the bottom step of a two step stool and hitting my hand on one of the heat sink fins on the 501. It took ten stitches to close the wound. At least the 501 was not damaged.
