-----Terry, 'The Sand Pebbles' is a great flick, a Classic!
And one in which Steve McQueen excels as well. ...And I'm certain of it.
The Blu-ray is fantastic too (picture quality transfer).

The book is superb as well.

McQueen did some damn good acting. The Great Escape, Sand Pebbles, I'm blanking on the name, but the one where he finally escapes from the island prison (Pappion ??), Thomas Crown Affair, among others.

-----'Papillon', and also starring Dustin Hoffman. ...Superb performances of them both!
Based on a true story of the French convict Henri Charriere; with a papillon (butterfly) tattooed on his chest.

'The Great Escape'; another great film, and great performance by Steve McQueen. ...Also based on a true story.

'The Thomas Crown Affair'; it's OK, but not of the same caliber as the three other ones mentioned just above.

* And of course I got them all. Plus 'Bullitt', 'The Getaway'; and all in HighDef, except for the DVD Special Edition two-Disc set of 'The Great Escape'.

** Are we having fun yet?

--------^ Click on it!

* Directed by Fritz Lang (1931), and starring Peter Lorre.

=> That was 81 years ago, and today we still have these type of individuals rampant in our society, and on the Internet!

This flick is as impactful (drama, thriller, suspense, danger, horror, ...) today as it was back then.
... And then came/was Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, the master movie director of 'suspense'.
{... Coming soon to a theater near you; Bob's mansion.}
