Default Something New

I think I am almost done with my Hybrid systems transformation. All of the holes were patched and painted yesterday (caused by having to pull Transparant cables from the equipment cabinet to the front of the room and from the change in Surround speakers. The front built in cabinets were also stained and are ready to take the Ref 250s which should arrive next week. The current Ref 150 will be heading up to the mountain cabin to replace the VS115 (which I plan to keep)...mated to Wilson Duettes and a Ref2mk2. Just retubed the 115 with KTs...so need to find a place for that as well.

After the 250s...I have one more piece of the puzzle coming...will provide details hopefully in about 3 weeks. I expect it to complete the system.

Bummer...ref 250s won't be here until after thanksgiving. Did finally break down and ordered the SME 20/3 today with V arm. good news is that distributor was instock(thank you Bill) and should be here next week. Will put Lyra Titan i on it which is now on 20/2. Need to figure out what to do with my 20/2... Bedroom maybe?

Linn LP12 SE/Radikal arrives around same time as the SME so my dealer will be busy setting up next week. Also heard that Ref phono 2 shipped today...and HRS racks are in route...all coming together. (there is a twist on the ref 2 phono) that I will share later.

Lastly...since Ref150 is going to cabin...I decided to replace ref2 mk2 preamp with the ref 5 (also with a twist). Heard that delivery is 3 weeks out

Keeping both VS115 and Ref 2 pre...just can't let them go

Will post back with thoughts on new analog sources next week

Going shopping for vinyl now...on Amazon.of course.

enatai252 Sounds like santa came early. How does the Ref 150 sound? I bought a Ref 40 anniversary preamp 2 weeks ago & have 325 hours on it. It is one of the most amazing things i've ever heard. Maybe you should track on eof those down?

I absolutely love the 150...expect the 250s to be more of the same...ARC got it right...have not heard Ref 110 with KTs...but 150 beats 110 with 6550s hands down. Considered pulling trigger when ref40 was available...but in my hybrid 2CH/HT system I needed a SS preamplifier(KX-R)...and couldn't justify for cabin...Ref5/150 should be right

If I built an analog only system...I would be out searching for a 40...hoping new Ref 5 gets me close. Enjoy yours...envy

Thanks all for the welcome! By way of introduction my system (stupid name) is here:

AudiogoN Forums: Music Transcendent

I always liked the ARC stuff going back to the 70's, but the Ref 40 is the first piece I've ever owned. I guess it took me 40 years to get wise to tubes.

Happy turkey day all. Barry

Thanks all. Glad I found you ... although your friendship may be injurious to my financial health I'm willing to risk it!
