Ivan
You are going to get great meals at most places in Paris. If you decide to go to the "name" places you will get the same great meal , but usually the privilege of paying more for less food.

Now I prefer some smaller and trendier (read more fun) hotels. When I wasn't living there.

We have also dined several times at Le Cinq. Excellent. Highly recommended !

I tend to agree Jim !
"New Cuisine" is very good, but as a healthy full body builded american ( ) you will tend to still be hungry at the end of the dinner, while your wallet will be much lighter and then hungry too.
My father had a very close american friend living in Paris. He was more a very tall and strong guy. Just like you Ivan.
He used to make my father laugh all the time when they were in restaurants together. They were 2 people. My father was ordering a meal. And his friend was ordering 2 identical meals. The answer of the waiter was always : "oh, sorry. So you are waiting for a third person ? ". Then my dad's friend was replying : " no. I am person #2 and #3. Please put thetwo meals in the same plate"
So just be prepared to order 2 meals for you and you will be safe.
As Jim stated, a traditional restaurant is very good too, and you won't leave it with the impression of an empty stomach !

1. George V
2. Le Bristol

George V is more classic, and Le Bristol slightly modern. Both are five stars and both are gorgeous.
Le Bristol is situated on the one of the luxury Paris street - Saint-Honoré. Your wife will be happy :-)

And take a look at the Le Bristol vivid talysman

More Michelin stars mean less food on your plate

Hi Ivan,

I have always had a good travel agent set up my itinery, private tour guide and hotel but a friend of mine said to make life easier he went with the tour group below and said it was very nice. The hotels they pick are supposed to be nice and near the most popular attractions. He did a mix of the wine country, Paris. See below France Tour | Tauck World Discovery I was thinking of giving this a try myself since my friend tends to very hard to please.
