The MoFi GEO-DISC protractor is inexpensive and easy to use, though limited to the Baerwald alignment (Lofgren A). Wish they would offer with Stevenson & Lofgren B on the same disc.

@Puma do you have a link or source where you bought the Uni? I've actually been trying to buy one (or maybe the cheaper SMART version) but can't find where to purchase.

I think you want to search for acoustical-systems...... Good luck.

Anybody know where the Dennison geometry fits in here? Maybe an "also known as" situation?

I'm strongly considering placing a SMARTractor order here, very shortly. It looks absolutely amazing, combining almost every feature I want into one tool.

So far I've used a Mint LP (Baerwald) for my Fidelity Research FR64fx, the Graham jig (who knows what curve) on my Supreme, and the GeoDisc (Baerwald again) on a Clearaudio Universal 12". All 3 of these methods have yielded high quality, distortion-free sound:
  • The Mint LP gives the greatest confidence due to its precision, but you have to be very sure the spindle-to-pivot mounting distance is exactly correct! Whereas the SMARTractor will account for some discrepancies in S-P distances. Furthermore, the Mint is very specific to a single tonearm/turntable pairing. The one I have for my SOTA/FR64fx won't even fit on my Clearaudio's spindle!
  • The GeoDisc is a nice all-rounder, truly universal and easy to use, but its precision can never be as great as the Mint. The need to sight-align the disc's bar towards exactly the TA's pivot point is not confidence inspiring. And I really wish it at least had a mirrored surface for cantilever alignment. SMARTractor has solutions for both of these issues.
  • The Graham Jig is clever and easy, but I have trouble seeing though the frosted plastic to be sure where exactly the stylus tip is or purpose of alignment - which of course is crucial!

I practiced with the smart tractor and Analog Magic software last week. Smart tractor was excellent in every way. The Analog Magic software was a bit problematic. It would crash and a reboot was necessary from time to time.

Overall it worked as advertised

I will be setting up the Etha in the next few weeks and will post pictures of the process

Dennison is very close to Baerwald geometry.

A brief reminder of this post.

I go back and forth between Loefgren B IEC and UNI-DIN.
