No kidding - after more than 3 million miles, I decided I had my fill of air travel. Things got way more complicated after 9/11. I quit my job in 2002 and started my own company. Since then I have flown less than ten times although we plan to go to Europe in the fall. I guess I had better read up on all the recent "tricks of the trade".

Booked for our summer flights via Icelandair and not too bad. Plus, we like to spend a vew hours in the Blue Lagoon. Also booked on Air France from CDG to Nice and return to CDG from Montpellier for about half the cost of the train. Not quite as convenient, but half the travel time and have a car to pick up and drop off, so no big deal.

Ah.. when you've ridden one TGV, you've ridden them all.

Some of the locals still have some 'interesting' rolling stock, but not much left.

The whole thing (booking, dealing with airlines, premium economy seats, seat room, lounges, bureaucracy, luggage rules, the food, the queues, priority pass my a**, delays and flights called off, rude customers, rude staff etc) has become a real ordeal for me.

Totally hate it and, due to work reasons our of 53 weeks in a year I am about 35-38 away from home

When I retire I most definitely won't be getting on a plane ever again.
