"Each F1 team must buy the halo from one of three manufacturers. Despite being built from lightweight titanium, the halo weighs about 30 pounds, a significant chunk in a sport where every ounce counts. And it puts that mass high up, challenging engineers and drivers who prefer the car's center of gravity be as low as possible, for improved cornering stability."

It has been controversial for many and caused heated arguments for many. My take is after watching the Halo testing video and the numerous videos of crashes including Jules Bianchi's it's there for protection of a car on top of another and or a wheel rebounding. Would this device have had an impact of possibly saving Ayrton Senna? I was wondering if F1 would follow Indy car and use a windscreen. If you haven't seen the video here it is.

In my opinion, the solution that Indy chose is the way to go. It is more inline even with
F1 of yesteryear. This halo is absolutely horrible. It seems that every year, they are
making a wrong decision only to correct it the next year. (See quali fiasco in 2016).

I gave up trying to understand when the hybrid engines were mandatory. The first year they were not "loud enough"! That right there sort of reveals to us where F1 is headed.
