Surge Protector
Not all the well photo documented, but read about the Eaton CHSPT2ULTRA the other night,
I quickly found it on Amazon for $113, and it is listed on other sites for close to $300 and knew I have ignored this for too long, so I purchased and installed it making this a 30 minute project, all went well, ran it into its own 50 amp breaker, plus the neutral and ground connections - this is literally a no brainer and offers protection at a level higher not only for the Hi Fi but the whole home. They also include $75K insurance with exclusions, although only denting the replacement value in my home, but better then nothing under extreme circumstances. Ed.......Whole home surge protection is an absolute must. Glad to see you finally taking a proactive approach.

Surge Protector
Me too, a must!
That’s why I posted this, hopefully to bring awareness this brings as a sense of security for under $200. This is a stage 2, learning stage 1 is at the meter (not allowable here, I’m in Washington State) and stage 3 are the plugins at the wall (weakest link by itself). |

Surge Protector
I installed the same one almost 3 years ago. It took me no more than 45 minutes to install the surge suppressor and it’s own dedicated 50A breaker.
A definite must in my opinion. Last edited by Cohibaman; 04-22-2018 at 01:34 PM. |

Depending on the brand & model, there may or may not be status indicator LEDs. If there isn’t a status indicator and it’s been installed for a few years, it might be time to replace it with one that does. It’s cheap insurance and peace of mind - for me anyways.
