Default Gold Lion 6922's - Very Nice ...

I've been reading about all the "glowing" recommendations for Gold Lion tubes, I was itching to try some. So, I dug out my Audio Logic 24mxl tube dac and last week ordered a pair of 6922's to replace the tubes that were inside (JAN Sylvania 6922). I had not used the dac in a while so I did not know what to expect. I've had it 7-8 years and in it's heyday was highly regarded. Well I fired it up using my Sony xa-5400es to drive the dac via spdif. Uh oh, something was wrong. It sounded like I had a blanket on my speakers. Well I did not know if it was the dac or something else and wanted to put it away and worry about some other time. I left it on (it never really shuts of, as long as the ac is plugged in, the tubes are on) and kept running music through it with the preamp muted just to get some time on it. I have to say now it sounds pretty sweet. It really opened up and brought some tube goodness into my KX-R and Spectrons. I'm actually pretty impressed. My LIO-8 dac is more revealing and truthful but I'm starting to realize "I can't handle the truth". Now this has me thinking about getting a better computer interface for my Audio Logic to bring the digital to it or just dedicate an old cd/dvd player and be done with it. At least it gives me more things to play with. I can only imagine you guys with Gold Lions in your MC2301's, MC275's, C500T/C1000T's, etc. are experiencing. Wow! What a fun hobby.

Joe.......It was just funny to read the statement. None of us really get the truth, just close.

I was hoping that line would excite the movie buffs. I really am surprised to hear what the Gold Lions are doing. I really like them. I am glad that tubes are getting new life and are being highly sought after.
