B&W makes a nice speaker I prefer Sonus Faber . I had a pair of B&W's and sold them after a few months. I have had the Elipsa's for years, can't go wrong they can play any genre and sound great. I also have the Guarneri Memento in my home theater with 2 JL audio F112 subs. using the crossover in my MX120 they sound like a much larger 3 way speaker. If I could have ordered mine with the SE homage finish I would have

I'd pick the Elipsa SE even over the Futura.

Antipop, what swayed you to that conclusion?

I've listened to both in the same room. The finish of the Futura is a clearly a notch above of the Elipsa and the chrome adds a lot to the look. Most of the price difference can be found there IMO.

However, sound-wise they are much closer than you'd expect. The Futura can go a bit lower but the Elipsa has the much better tweeter of the Strad. Also the Elipsa is easier to setup and more tolerant of less than perfect rooms.

In my case, the speaker is in the living room and the Elipsa is much more integrable due to the wide baffle format.

I'd get the Elipsa and spend the difference elsewhere which is what I've done. Except if you absolutely love the finish and look of the Futura ! The real next level for the Elipsa are the Strads.

Thanks for the info, that's pretty much the answer I was looking for. Yes the future's are gorgeous but for me the price increase should reflect on the sound mainly. I think all the SF speakers are wonderful to look at so I'd rather spend the money on performance.

Sounds like everyone agrees the SE's are best sound for the money, and that the sound is comparable to the futura's. Strads seem to be the consensus for best over all SF unless u get into deep $$$, too bad I wasn't here when masterlu had them for sale, his price was great

Cool! Hope the purchase goes smooth! I'm assuming the one on 'gon is the elipsa se that you are talking about. That graphite will look nice.

actually no, I spend some free time just calling authorized dealers around the country. Its pretty amazing the things you find that aren't posted on websites. Alot of dealers tell me the same thing, that they are not allowed to put information about certain companies and prices on their site. I have found some trade-in strads and futura's joey if your interested pm me and ill give you the companies contact info. wasnt a bad deal but a little higher than a hoped.
