If you feel you need to put the port plugs in a pair of C1s, then you might have them placed too close to the wall. I've had the Contour S1.4s and S3.4s and when the plugs go in, the midrange detail and dynamics suffer. I used both with a sub crossed over at around 35 Hz (for the S1.4s) or 30 Hz (for the S3.4s I have now) and they do not need port plugs. The only Dynaudios I use with port plugs are those in my home theater that have to be right up against or mounted on a wall.

Far from harsh IMO , actually very accurate.

My assessment: If you can afford it, get the C2. It has a "built in stand" and it is a very attractive tower speaker with almost zero foot print. The C1 is a great speaker only if you cannot afford the C2.

here is a photo showing the Confidence Series.. Should give you an idea.

Keep us posted.

Bill

I wish I had room in my office for a pair of C2's. The C1's are only 6" from front wall and I tried them with and without the port plugs and the C1's and the JL F112's sound much better with the C1's plugged and crossed at 80 hz at 48db slope (which sounded in my room much better than less steep slopes).

Is there any way you can get those C1s further off the wall? They really are designed to stand free. They're such wonderful sounding speakers and I think you are missing out on their full potential by plugging the ports and putting them right up against a wall: they need to be 1/2 meter away.

Did you purchase the C1?

My speaker "in fidelity" is twitching...

I found that the Dynaudio C1 stands really improved in terms of SQ (dynamics, clarity, etc) with 50 pounds of lead shot in each column (enclosed within plastic bags I got from Mick at Dynaudio, Main USA office). I have carpeted floors and I also put the spikes into a Herbie's glider, then into small piece of MDF wood, then that on top of 4 Rollerblock Jrs HDSE. Huge improvement.

I would never load lead anything in a speaker stand. Huge health hazard!!!
I'm not trusting a plastic bag to secure lead dust and this hobby is not worth that kind of risk.

I used sanitized and dried sand in my Stand4 and Contour S1.4s. That worked very well.

My $0.02
