Bob thanks for the vote of confidence. I will report my finding as soon as they arrive.

Glad you made they move, these components will have great synergy together.

Congrats.

What speakers will the new amp drive? Hansen's or PMC's?
Will be the Princes in two channel. The PMC's come into play with movies 5.1 Mcintosh 501 for the center and 402 for the rears for a while.

Well the 911 and 035 equipment arrived undamaged today. I took it out of the box and will let it acclimate to room temperature till Saturday morning when the snow storm arrives. Tomorrow my speaker cables arrive back from Synergistic Research. I had bananas on both sides originally, but Burmester has a big No in the manual for not using banana plugs on their amps. So more money spent on reterminating one side of the cables with spades (hate spades). The 911 is 1 ˝” wider 1” shorter and 10 lb lighter than the 501. The vent fins remind me of the impeller blades on the engines of the Airbus 320. The Burmester engravement is just as beautiful as the engravement on the MDA 1000/ MCD 1000. I’m going to need to wear some sunglasses for a while to get use to the ultra shine of the chrome. The 035 preamp is just as shiny with no Burmester engravement on top. Only weighing about 15 lbs. It has Tone controls and a bypass feature for 5.1

About 11 months ago I heard the complete Burmester Rondo system which is their entry level it was one of the nicest systems of heard in a while. I always had it in my mind that if the chance ever rose I would jump on the Burmester wagon. I never heard the 911 MK3 before; some will say that’s pretty risky. But listening to the Rondo system and all the rave reviews on the 911 I decide to jump on it. Buying a demo 40% off with a full warranty was a no brainier. I treat audio equipment like stocks buy low sell high. But it usually works out for me buy low sell lower. I will get to do some comparison with the 501’s on Saturday but Sunday the new owner picks them up.

Now a friend of mine tells me I need to get Burmesters 948 power conditioner because that’s what makes Burmester sound so good. What a crock. What I didn’t understand when reading about their conditioner is that it’s a 500 Watt amplifier. How is that different than other conditioners?

JohnThomas.......I am very pleased to know the Burmester gear arrived safe and sound. Until you actually see your gear out of the shipping cartons, there is always that little hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach. I'm glad your gear arrived safely.

It will be interesting to hear your comments when the Burmester 911 goes up against the 501's. It sure didn't take you long to sell the 501's.

Well after 5 hours of rewiring the cable. The Burmester is installed and fermenting for tomorrow’s comparison.

Looking forward to hearing how it sounds. Sublime, I'm sure.

I actually think the new gear compliments the Hansen's better than the Mc gear.

Well after setting thing up. I have the Burmester 035 preamp, 911MK3 amp, MDA1000/MCD1000 all wired up to Synergistic Research Tesla Apex cables with all power cords feeding into Richard gray 1200C except for the amp going directly into the wall .I have made my own personal assessment based on what my ears tell my brain. I’m not able to compare the 501 directly to the 911 due to the new owner picking up his gear prior to the big storm. I used an array of cds Eva Cassidy “Fine and Mellow” “, Radka Toneff “The moon is a mistress”, Steve Ray Vaughan “Tin Pan Alley” and few others. The 911 throws a huge soundstage which took me totally by surprise. It’s like being at a concert. The bass is very extremely taut and precise. The highs extend a lot longer without tingling my ears. The clarity of the music is exquisite without a hint of oppressiveness. No fatigue setting in after 4 hours of listening The 911 is like a sleeping giant that have woken up the Hansen Princes. The 911 and 501’s are in different leagues both excellent in what they do. I think 1.2KW would be a more worthy contender. Next to go will be the MDA1000/MCD1000 possible replacement Simaudio 750D.
