Default EB1i in at 14X16X8 room?

I've been looking for IB1S or IB2S, a pair of EB1i have come up. Will my room support them?

JFTM.......Yes, your room dimensions will work well with the PMC EB1i speakers. I have a pair of EB1i's in a 12' x 17' x 8' room with excellent results.

The EB1i is a wonderful speaker, but it is big. Your room with only a 8' ceiling is not that big. You might want to consider either the OB1i or PB1i. Both will reach down to 30Hz and below. The tweeter and mid-range are the same in all three models.

True !
I heard Dan's system and it is incredible, even with a strange placement of the speakers, he managed to get a clean and powerful bass, even adding a JL Audio sub !

At one time I had the PB1i, EB1i and the IB2i......my room is 14 x 19.5 x 8.5 and the PB1i and IB2i were better suited for the room per my preferences....the EB1i seemed a bit heavy on the bottom at times, this was really my only issue with them and wished I could have had them in a larger room. The PB1i and IB2i both play down to 25Hz and are better suited for my listening preferences, the EB1i just wasn't as good a fit with thier 19Hz bottom end.....This doesn't mean the EB1i won't work in your room as there are other variables to consider like choice of amps, listener preferences, room configuration, etc.....its a YMMV thing!

I tried my new EB1i's in my Living Room 13'x18'x8 but I much prefer them in the Family Room 15'x22' x (17'-9' sloped ceiling) in the larger room with the taller ceiling they just seem more open and airier to me. The smaller room gives me a more closed in, intimate sound. I haven't got around to any acoustical treatments yet though so that may change my sound a bit. When I auditioned the speaker at AudioClassics, their demo room is about 13'x 22', they sounded good enough there for me to purchase them. I demoed the PB1's also in the same room and even with the same tweeters and mids, I didn't like them nearly as well. Just my 2 cents.

I'm surprised at the feedback with everyone (PMC included) saying there will be no issues as I had major issues integrating the speaker into my room and my room is only SLIGHTLY smaller than that of the OP and those that have commented (13 x 14 x 9ft).

I have had to professionally measure my room and apply 12 digital EQ filters (within pure music audio player) to level out the reponse 200Hz and below.

Saying that I listen to alot of music with heavy content from 200Hz all the way down to 20Hz and so issues are made very apparent. Listening purely to rock/jazz/blues/classical/vocal/etc the speaker is enjoyable without EQ applied.

Once setup though it is an absolutely monumental speaker, and I would purchase again knowing a slight 'tuning' is required to make it work in my room.

Mmmmm.........

Is it not generally true that wooden suspended floors are more prone to loose/undefined/slow bass?

My PMC dealer has concrete floors so my OB1i's sounded rather different back home

But having said that I upgraded to PB1i Signatures but before doing this I upgraded the electronics to give me bridged mono power amps and that made a huge difference with the OB1i's leaving me confident to borrow a pair of PB1i Sigs for home dem. I bought the brand new PB1i Signature dem speakers.

I now have a fantastic sound (Macintosh MCD1100 subsequent upgrade also a big step forward) with plenty of controlled bass in a room 19 x 11.5 ft x 8 with a suspended wooden floor.

Now recently I visited a friend with a pair of MB2i's on a concrete floor in a set up where the 12" bass speaker led proceedings! The bass was the dominant part of the sound and didn't sound integrated with the mid or treble. He loves the amount/style of bass, I found it unsubtle and over bearing. The room is 15 x 12 ft.

The speakers were powered by two Bryston 7B's with a Bryston PS3 with music supplied from a NAS hardrive at lossless via Powerdbamp software so good stuff.

I would love to hear the MB2i's in my front room of course!

I think what I'm trying to say here is that you just never know which speakers will or won't work in your own listening room until you borrow them and have a good listen.

Incidentally, my friend with the MB2i's works at a UK PMC & Bryston dealership so should know what's what
