Default Burmester cable matching

dear all

Right now I have burmester 088, 911 mk3 and b80 speakers. I am in the process of upgrading cables.

I want to add a bit more warmth to the midrange and a bit more bass through cables. Can you all help me?

What speaker cable is good to use with burmester? How about interconnect and power cable? What kind of cable would bring the biggest change? speaker cable?

I was told that Cardas and Tara Labs are good with burmester for warm. Has anyone used Burmester's own copper Blu cable and compare it with Burmester's silver cable?

Rocco

Aren't those cable good for its open soundstage, high extension, detail and airyness?

I am looking for something that's warmer. Perhaps copper?

Hi,

My experience (tested many cables from a lot of famous Brands) and learning about cable matching with Burmester is based on the following factors:

1. The Burmester sound is perfect in the balance of tonality, natural, dynamics and airy presentation.

2. Complete neutrality and total absence of grain.

3. Pure essence of musicality.

4. Highly transparent.

Based on the aforementioned consideration and my experience with said cabling is that very easy you can loss part of Burmester sound beauty. With Burmester cabling you get already excellent sound result. In my humble opinion only using a whole Nordost set-up (Valhalla or Odin) you can better improve the overall sound result in all regards maintaining the Burmester sound philosophy. My Burmester system when was demoed with Cardas suffered with some roll off in the highs and the Burmester timbre has been deteriorate. Instead Burmester/Nordost is a perfect match in all regards.

If you're looking for the "copper" try to listen the "Burmester Blue". I've owned the Burmester Silver and It was excellent.

for CDP to 088, suggest wireworld golden starlight, Audio note sootto

for 088 to 911, suggest cardas clear, viard silver HD, analysis plus golden oval

Power cord may be considered entreq, wireworld, analysis plus

Burmester silver for Speaker cable

I think you should try Tara Labs TheOne cables. I use them thru out the entire system power cables, interconnects and speaker cables. For me they bring to the table nice tight authoritative bass, very organic musical midrange and very detailed liquid smooth highs to tingle the senses.

I have 088 and 911Mk3, but with SF Amati Futura.

When I first added the 088, it sounded too forward and aggressive. In my system, the solution was to run it off a Burmester 948 power conditioner, using Shunyata Zitron Anaconda (Python is almost as good). I now regard the 948 as an essential part of the 088.

Whilst I run the 911 off the 948 as well, I find the 911 far less sensitive than the 088.

So just check the AC environment for the 088 before you spend too much time and money chasing signal cables to achieve these sort of tonal adjustments. The Burmester Silver XLR between the 088 and the 911 is a good "neutral" reference. My experience is that using signal cables to offset a sub-optimal AC feed is fruitless task, as you will lose resolution.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Glisse, about the quality of power accessible to the electronics.

I have recently introduced the Bryston BIT 16 power supply into my system and my 911 monos, 088 preamp and 061 CDP are all plugged into the BIT. The transformation is startling to say the least!! I previously had only a power tap feeding the entire system. The profound change in dynamics and ambience retrieval is stunning.

I have posted my impressions in the BIT thread in Bryston as well.

Cheers

Sujay
