The hell with the artists. I pay for all of my music. If I don't like a book I don't finish it. If I buy a magazine I only read the articles that interest me. I don't eat crappy food in a restaurant so why would I listen to whole album because they failed to interest me?

No, I just ignored Jack London and was selective in finishing books by Steinbeck.

You get to find out that you you like many songs that you had previously glossed over in the digital playback medium because it's so easy to jump around.
I fully agree! For me songs that i like for first hearing, most of the time, turn out NOT to be my favorite songs from a particular album on the long run. I like when songs grow on me, those i valuate more over the time...

+1 Absolutely.

I still like the songs that initially pull me into an artist or get me to recognize them. But there are songs/albums that take a little time for me to appreciate. Of the artists I can't live without, maybe there are one or two songs in the whole catalog I may occasionally skip past. Going back over music I have not heard in a while makes me discover new things and come at it from a different perspective. It's all good.

No, I assumed there would be far to much symbolism in those tomes for this old mind to figure out.

I guess this might have helped me through it.
