He went into T1 at Sears at 170 mph and...the brake lights never came on. I've never seen anyone drive at Sears (now Sonoma) faster than that. Just an amazing drive.

Both he and Senna were rewarded the following year w/F1 seats.

Early in his professional career, he was that close to having one leg amputated.

I'd love to have dinner w/him -- I wouldn't say a word -- just soak in all his stories. Sky sports scored quite the commentator - for the F1 audience IMO. He's the perfect fit.

Yeah, it was quite the experience. BTW, I shot as a credentialed motorsports photojournlist for Laguna for 7 years and for Sonoma for 16, and saw a lot of racing in my time, and that race still stands out in memory.
