May I ask you guys…. ?

Have you ever tried Esoteric in your Shindo systems, or ever tried Shindo Silver speaker cables vs A23 speakers in your Shindo systems ?

While I agree, "...each to his own. Nice to have choices"… Explain to me, in system building, especially in a Shindo system, isn't one often best off, using the cables of the same brand ?

I do understand that there is a large added expense to add Shindo speaker cables, at circa 2200 per mtr., especially when most Shindo dealers set up systems w/ the gear on the side (which makes a big difference btw), as opposed to between the speakers-

However, if you REALLY want to hear your very expensive preamp & monos SING, you MUST use the Shindo speaker cables imho !

And as to the OP…. please, please try some NOS DACs in your Shindo system ! In my systems & imo, Esoteric is more to the dry & accurate camp, as opposed to the musical SET/vinyl camp…

I agree on the NOS dac - that is a good way to go.

Having spoken to many people who have used both A23 and Shindo speaker cables in many systems the A23 are often preferred regardless of price. Now winning is purely subjective as it comes down to listener preference.

I have a full set of Shindo IC's and A23 IC's and I would not say one sounds "better" then the other. They sound different.

The big problem is that people rarely have the opportunity to try both to see what suits them.

You make great points-

In my system, 100% Shindo except for digital I found the A23 to 'cloud' things a bit.. The same w/ dual Mr Ts...

I am under the impression that VERY few have tried in their system/own Shindo speaker cables… look at any dealer's site that shows customer systems/installs… 90% of the time it's w/ Shindo IC & A23 speaker cable, for the aforementioned reasons…

I'm happy to stand corrected, however it seems few own Shindo speaker cables..

100% agreed.. "The big problem is that people rarely have the opportunity to try both to see what suits them." I'll add that this is unfortunately true most of the time, for any equipment…

We're unfortunately slaves to reviewers opinions & must blindly buy stuff that 'reads well'…

Also, I'm sure I'm blind on glancing at your multitude of sexy systems… what are your 'big rig' speakers ?

Wino.......I am not really interested in hi-jacking member teojjsg's thread. He has asked for opinions about a digital source he is interested in, not about your preference for cables or my speakers. The least we can do is respect the original topic.

ab.. have you tried that combo ? Please report !

Dan… good point ! I agree… so back to it, as I stated when I entertained you so well…

In my 100% Shindo system, except for digital, I found, for my taste & several others that visited, that my Esoteric UX-01 was less musical & had less of an 'analog flow', than either my Wavelength Silver Crimson DAC or my MSB Analog DAC…

(still want to know what your big rig speakers are, haha)

Wino.......I would agree with you about the dry and rather analytical sound of the Esoteric UX-01 DVD/CD player. That was my impression of it many years ago. I think you would be rightfully surprised and pleased to audition an Esoteric K-03 or K-01. I stand by my original comment to teojjsg. I think the K-03 would exceed his desire for a top shelf SACD/CD/DAC performance in his Shindo system.
