I like the styling better than the G series preamp which looks like it is upside down. But in general it looks very dated. Like a McIntosh concept piece from the 1960's. I much preferred the timeless look of the Classic Audio Research, Ref 2 mk2 and earlier. I do not see the need for the display. It was much easier to see the little lights from across the room. At least the Ref 5se doesn't have the plastic buttons like the earlier Ref 3 and 5 did.

Coincidentally, with news of Ref6, several Ref5se units popped up for sale on A'gon...

I am curious will this new design will be applied to the top of the line 2-piece model too ?
Because they promoted that touch screen on Ref10 so much in the past. Can they go back to
Dot matrix again I doubt.

You say it looks dated. I think that is the whole Idea. They want their gear to look dated. Personally I don't like it, but the marketing experts at ARC think people will like it.

They already have the G series with this type of style. Why now bring the same look to the Reference line? The Ref 6 doesn't match anything else in the Reference line. It would be a deal breaker for me. I didn't consider the G series preamp when I bought my Ref 5se because I didn't like the way it looks. But maybe I am in the minority.

The Ref 6 has 6x6H30P, while the Ref 10 8x6H30P and the ref 5SE 4x6H30P, while keeps the tube rectification power suply from 5SE unlike the SS power suply of GS Pre. So we would expect that the sound will be between the Ref 5SE and Ref 10.

The Ref 10 uses 10 6h30s, not 8.

You are right about the 10 6H30Ps but 2 of them are used for the power supply. I was refering to the 8 6H30Ps for the audio section.
