Default Uh-oh got a buzz.

Not a drinking problem, but a MC 501's buzz/hum.
It comes from my cable line, when its hooked up to the box, not the power cord. Disconnect coax and buzz goes away.

Every thing else Mcintosh is off, but the 501's amps (on) still buzz/hum through the speakers.

Any idea's, besides move my cable??

PS
My SVS-1 crossover, makes me run the 501 amps unbalanced.
But that is off too.

Radio Shack also sells something similiar -- it's called an FM Shunt Filter for approx $10.

that is good stuff, cheap insurance

OP make sure the cable is grounded outside...
mine (I have 2, one for video, one for data/modem) both come into a common coax terminal block (basically 2 side-side female connectors on a common frame) and the frame is grounded to a driven rod

Most of those devices won't work for Satelite or digital TV services. Here is also a informative article:

I just noticed it.
So I am not sure how long its been there disrupting my silence, as in usually, music is playing.

Traded out cable box, but the same story exists.
My amp and my coax cable, are talking to each other.

I feel like Jodie Foster listening to Alfa Centauri...

I will try the cheap fix suggested.

Thanks

Try this on the cables. Dont know what they are called in english but they are used to check if the cables are connected properly on the right phase.
. It might help.

I've used both with great results. Don't have cable anymore but have DirectHD, and like it much better
